It’s a very tough business, do you think we’re going to see more young brokers join? Or is it going to be quite tough to recruit new blood?
I think it’s all about new blood. When I started 16-17 months ago, I looked around and there were a lot of older people, with a nice little trail going along. I guess they start slowing down their activity so I probably saw that as a bit of a bonus jumping into the industry. CCP came in so that was another thing that pushed a few people out. So instead of seeing that as negative, it was more of a positive to jump in. Young people are what it’s all about.
Do you think there are any barriers to young people at the moment?
There’s always the Gen Y vs Gen X issue. Working hard reaps rewards and in this industry you can reap the rewards. But it is all about doing all the right things all of the time. Under the right guidance and the right people it’s definitely doable. You can learn a lot from every generation.
