Bendigo and Adelaide Bank has announced major changes to its executive team to enhance capabilities and operations.
Bruce Speirs has been promoted from his current executive partner connection role to lead the bank’s new business banking division. Speirs will be succeeded by Richard Fennell, who will be the executive under the bank’s new consumer division.
The changes aim “to further enhance the bank’s capabilities and operations”, and have immediately taken effect without changing the third party banking. Darren Kasehagen and Amanda James will remain as the bank’s business leaders.
Fennell was the bank’s former chief financial officer, handling financial responsibilities and managing group strategy and the bank’s corporate division, which includes people and performance, properties, and processing centres. Before joining the bank, Fennel spent most of his 18-year financial career with PricewaterhouseCoopers in Australia and Asia.
An avid supporter of sports and the arts in South Australia, Fennell is a member of the Board of Governors of the Helpmann Academy, a non-profit organisation that supports young artists as they shift from tertiary education to artistic careers. He is also a director of the Adelaide Football Club and a current chair of the club’s finance and audit committee.
“I’m very excited about the opportunity we have to bring together all of our consumer facing businesses to deliver an outstanding banking service to our current and future customers and partners,” Fennell said in a statement.
