Another big four manager has announced a move away from the majors.
Westpac’s state manager for metro NSW, Jessica Power, has joined HSBC as head of retail banking and wealth management.
This follows the news yesterday that Westpac general manager of retail and premium banking will join Newcastle Permanent as the group’s new CEO.
Power has more than 23 years’ experience in the financial services industry. At HSBC her job will be to build a bigger presence in the Australian retail banking market by assisting domestic and international customers with their mortgages, bank accounts, credit cards and other financial needs.
Before working at Westpac, where she held several roles, she spent 19 years at Citigroup Australia, holding senior roles in retail products, customer experience, digital banking and marketing.
Commenting on the appointment, Martin Tricaud, chief executive officer for HSBC Australia, said, “Jessica brings to HSBC a very broad and deep knowledge of the Australian financial services sector, and will have direct responsibility for continuing our strong growth trajectory in retail banking.
“Over the past two years, we have deepened our commitment to this market, opening eight new branches, re-launching with mortgage brokers and introducing several innovative new products including our award-winning Everyday Global Account. Under Jessica’s leadership, we have ambitions to grow our market share even further,” he added.
Power will report locally to Tricaud, and on a regional basis to Kevin Martin, head of retail banking and wealth management, Asia-Pacific.
She replaces Graham Heunis, who has taken on a new role as head of Asia-Pacific sales management, retail banking and wealth management.
