New AMP Bank CEO Scott Hartley has instituted a major restructuring at the top of the organisation, building a new leadership team.
The new team will have seven people directly beneath Hartley, drawn from both within and without the existing AMP staff base.
For the broker community, the most important is the addition of Sean O’Malley to the position of Managing Director of AMP. O’Malley was previously leading technology modernisation at AMP, and brings 25 years of experience in financial services.
Matt Lawler, once of Wealth Market, comes in as Managing Director Advice, while Anna Shelley jumps over from Equipsuper and Catholic Super to take on Chief Investment Officer role. Jason Sommer, who worked with Hartley at Sunsuper, will join as Director, Transformation & Investments.
Along with Sean O’Malley, internal promotions include Iliane Anderson, who is now Director, Super & Retirement and Edwina Maloney, who will take up a new role as Director, Platforms, covering Wrap and self-managed Supers. James Kent will continue in post as Chief Technology Officer.
“Each appointment brings credibility to the team either through their strong external reputation and track record – as shown by Jason Sommer, Matt Lawler and Anna Shelley, or by being highly respected for their achievements internally – as with Ilaine Anderson, Sean O’Malley, Edwina Maloney and Nicole Mahan,” Hartley told Australian Broker.
“Under Sean O’Malley’s leadership, AMP Bank will continue to strengthen its proposition for brokers and advisers as it grows its customer base.”
“As well as bringing together an experienced leadership team with four new executives, we also have an updated operating model to deliver a flatter structure to enable empowered, distributed leadership. This will improve efficiency and ultimately the performance of the business by giving our leaders end-to-end operational accountability.”
“The four new leaders will be in place by July this year. They bring the skills and experience needed to help AMP deliver the transformation of its business and will complement existing skills AMP has in its current leadership group.”
“The new leaders have all worked in large institutions and small to medium sized businesses. They will bring a healthy perspective on how we ensure AMP Australia is a lean, efficient and competitive business.”
