The board of Housing Australia has approved the appointment of Scott Langford (pictured above) as the organisation’s new CEO.

With more than 20 years of experience in residential property development, management, and investment, Langford brings a wealth of knowledge from both the private sector and the community housing industry.

Langford’s extensive background

Currently serving as the group CEO of SGCH (St George Community Housing), a Tier 1 community housing provider managing more than 7,000 dwellings for 11,500 Australians, Langford’s previous roles include general manager of housing and urban development for Junction Australia and executive director of Habitat for Humanity Australia.

His leadership in these positions has focused on supporting home ownership for lower-income households.

Building on a solid foundation

As the new CEO, Langford will collaborate closely with the board, the Housing Australia team, and various stakeholders to build on the foundation established by outgoing CEO Nathan Dal Bon.

“The board is delighted to welcome Scott Langford as our next CEO,” said Housing Australia chair Carol Austin. “He is a proven leader with the skills and experience necessary to take Housing Australia to the next stage of its development and to enable the organisation to play an even greater role in assisting vulnerable Australians to gain access to affordable, safe and secure housing.

“On behalf of the board, I also extend our thanks to outgoing CEO Nathan Dal Bon."

Vision for the future

“I am honoured to have the opportunity to lead Housing Australia as it steps up its roles of supporting pathways to home ownership and to providing investment flows to increase the supply of social and affordable housing,” Langford said.

Langford also emphasised the importance of collaboration.

“I look forward to partnering with the private sector, community housing providers, and all levels of government to deliver on Housing Australia’s mandate so that more Australians have a place to call home,” he said.

In the coming weeks, Housing Australia will confirm Langford’s formal appointment date.
