Harcourts sees "phenomenal" productivity numbers

Harcourts Australia has posted unprecedented productivity indicators for the year 2021, defying the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on the real estate industry.

The real estate group saw an increase in auctions by 118%, with the number of settled sales up 31% while volume of settled sales grew to 56%. Meanwhile, the average income of a Harcourts sales consultant increased 42%.

“These numbers tell the story of how well our people have gone, in a very tough year,” said Mike Green, executive director of operations at Harcourts International. “We are seeing phenomenal numbers from a massive increase in auction numbers to an increase in the average income of our sales consultants that far outweighs our industry growth statistics.”

The figures were partly driven by the company’s growth and onboarding more offices, tools, and resources, but more so by its people “doing really well: getting more business, helping more people, and doing a better job to get repeat business,” Green said.

“Our focus has always been on ensuring our offices are the most successful in their markets and our people are the highest paid,” Green said. “That is the only way can truly be the most successful group. This number clearly demonstrates we are achieving that goal.”

Harcourts Australia CEO Adrian Knowles was also pleased to see his people defy the challenges in a tough year.

“Growth in our business, expertise in our people, and auction numbers reflect how well the brand is doing, and, consequently, how well our people are doing,” Knowles said. “To have an increase in income like that across the team is probably the best and biggest statistic to come out of this report. It’s massive!”

Knowles added that Harcourts “will continue to build upon throughout the new year,” with more plans underway, including tech rollouts to better equip and support teams and further growth within the network.
