The Commonwealth Bank of Australia (CBA) has chosen to tap Kylie Smith as its new executive general manager of corporate affairs, effectively March 7.
Smith has over two decades of experience in corporate affairs, marketing and communications in the financial services industry, having previously worked for two of the big four banks.
Specifically, Smith served as the group executive for communications, digital and marketing for MLC Wealth at National Australia Bank (NAB), where she also handled product disclosure and customer complaints. Prior to joining NAB, she assumed senior leadership positions in corporate affairs at Westpac and BT Financial Group.
Her addition was part of CBA’s move to build its marketing and corporate affairs leadership team.
Smith’s appointment comes after Jo Boundy was named the new chief marketing officer at CBA in December.
Both will report to Monique Macleod, who was promoted to group executive marketing and corporate affairs in August 2021. However, Boundy will start at a later date of March 28.
“I’m looking forward to welcoming Kylie and Jo to CommBank’s marketing and corporate affairs leadership team,” Macleod said. “Both Kylie and Jo are very well-respected leaders, who will bring a depth of strategic thinking, creativity, and a proven track record of delivery to our team. Their values and enthusiasm for leading and developing talent will play a significant role in helping us deliver our ambitious agenda for the future.”
