CBA launches free financial education seminars

CommBank is set to enhance the financial literacy of Australians through almost 1,000 free financial wellbeing seminars.

The seminars are scheduled across its branch network throughout the country this year, focusing on a broad range of topics from online safety to property buying.

Diverse topics tailored to customer needs

Customers will have the opportunity to select from nearly 10 different subjects based on their personal financial goals. Notable topics include staying safe online, looking to buy property, and financial wellbeing for women.

Each session, lasting one hour, is structured to equip both individuals and businesses with essential tools and knowledge to manage their financial future confidently.

Reflecting on the rising concern about scams, more than half of these seminars will specifically address how to identify and avoid potential scams.

Jocelyn Espie, a branch manager at CommBank, stressed the importance of these sessions.

“While CBA invests around $750 million a year to protect customers from fraud, scams, financial and cyber crime, the best thing you can do is invest time – learning about the latest scams, how to spot them and how to keep yourself safe,” Espie said in a media release.

The seminars also cater to small and medium business owners, offering guidance on cyber security and business growth – vital as these businesses constitute 97% of all Australian businesses.

“Our seminars are a wonderful opportunity for our people to connect with customers and provide face-to-face support, outside their everyday banking needs,” said Mark Jones (pictured above), EGM customer service network.

CBA’s extended support for regional communities

Jones said thatCommBank was committed to regional communities.

“As part of our commitment to keep all regional branches open until at least the end of 2026, we committed to refining how we better support our customers in regional Australia,” Jones said.

The seminars are part of this pledge, ensuring accessibility to valuable financial education across the country, including more than 200 locations outside capital cities.
