A Queensland brokerage has been giving back to the industry through a mentoring program that provides new-to-industry brokers with the training, knowledge, and tools to build their professional skills and business.

Peter Mastroianni (pictured above), Loans Only managing director and accredited mentor, recently tapped Scott Hawkanson, highly experienced broker and accredited mentor, to bolster his mentoring program.

“Our program has grown significantly over the past 12 months, and we have assisted more than 45 men and women into the broking industry,” Mastroianni said. “I started the program as a way of giving back to the industry. We have a structured all-encompassing program that teaches new brokers how to run, get, do, and guide their new business.

“Many of our mentees have migrated to Australia and we help them to work with and support their local communities.”

Masroianni said many of the new recruits could be described as community-based brokers as they were leveraging their communities to assist with general finance needs.

“These communities are diverse, and they are made up of migrants from countries such as India, Bangladesh, Vietnam, Iran, and many more,” Mastroianni said. “Our brokers could be spending the weekends manning the barbecue at a local cricket match or attending religious services.”

Amir Latifi, one of the Loans Only mentees, has settled more than $35 million in his first 12 months as a broker.

“As a new-to-industry broker, Peter has provided me with access to structured weekly training, a comprehensive online learning centre, a broker community, and one-on-one support,” Latifi said. “I also received a white-labelled mortgage originations website for free. I would recommend Loans Only to other brokers wanting to grow their business.”

Rachel Foster was another new-to-industry broker who has reaped rewards from Mastroianni’s mentoring program.

“Peter encouraged me to grow my professional network, boosted my confidence, and helped me to grow my business in a short time frame,” Foster said. “One of Peter’s greatest strengths is his communication. He has an amazing way of offering counsel to allow each broker to achieve their respective goals and objectives.”
