A non-bank lender has brought former Westpac executive Paul Bakker onto the team, to assume the role of national manager of sales and strategic partnerships.
According to Better Choice Home Loans executive director Allan Savins, the appointment is the latest step in its business model transformation and seems sure to help drive further growth.
“We are delighted to have Paul join Better Choice as he brings a wealth of experience to the business and an enviable track record of delivering results,” said Savins.
“Given Paul’s previous achievements and Better Choice’s growth trajectory, he seems an ideal fit for our business.
“We are looking forward to Paul facilitating continued growth through our broker network and working with aggregation partners to drive deeper relationships in the third-party lending space.”
Savins emphasised that Bakker’s experience will be invaluable as Better Choice looks to utilise more of its own funding through BNK Bank and transition to a “pure non-bank lending model” rather than just being a mortgage manager; to Savins, Bakker is the ideal candidate to support the transition and help deliver more value to the group’s “loyal broker network”.
Bakker spent 22 years with Westpac, where he most recently acted as national manager of strategic partnerships; in that role, he developed and maintained Westpac's relationships with aggregators and key mortgage brokers across the country.
“I am confident my experience in the industry will be vital to helping Better Choice achieve its ambitions and deliver even more value to its broker network,” Bakker said.
