A customer-owned bank has reinforced its C-suite level diversity through announcement of a new hire, with women now accounting for 60% of the executive team.

Gateway Bank welcomed Ritu Sinha as the new chief customer officer (CCO) as current CCO, Lexi Airey, will be stepping into the role of CEO at the end of March.

Airey said, “Having been at the centre of Gateway’s customer journey for over four years, I am excited to learn from Ritu’s diverse industry experience and apply those learnings to continually improving what we do.”

Sinha has been involved with the customer experience in a wide array of industries including financial services, airline, education and telecommunications. In her new role, she will head a number of the bank’s customer-facing departments.

“I am really excited to join Gateway. Being a customer-obsessed leader, I look forward to supporting our members with the best in class service and solutions – all with an amazing feeling of really working for one stakeholder: our members, and with a talented and diverse ‘can-do’ team,” Sinha said.

Gateway’s chair Catherine Hallinan echoed Airey’s excitement at the addition.

“I am looking forward to welcoming Ritu and to see her ideas in action to continuously improve customer experience for our members,” she said.

The announcement builds from the executive level movements of the previous year, with Debra Landgrebe brought on as chief financial officer and Peter Buzek hired as the bank’s first chief technology officer.
