Australia's top 100 streets have been announced, based on new findings from property research company Suburbtrends.
The research generated house price estimates for every street in Australia. Filters were then applied, removing selected streets to ensure statistical significance, providing a refined list of streets nationally, where streets were allocated to areas and a maximum quota of 10.
The top 100 streets are in Sydney (51), Melbourne (27), Queensland’s Sunshine Coast (10), Byron Bay (10) and Perth (two). The list includes 80 streets from capital cities and 20 outside of the capitals.
Suburbtrends founder Kent Lardner (pictured above) said the ranking highlighted how the top streets in Australia are concentrated in and around beaches and also Sydney Harbour.
“Byron Bay and Noosa suburbs represented around 20% of the results which was rather surprising,” Lardner said. “It highlights how much wealth now sits outside of the top suburbs of the capital cities.”
A number of the streets ranking in the top 10 featured breathtaking views of Sydney Harbour, such as Belah Ave in Vaucluse (pictured below).
Lardner said the methodology was not about selecting streets with one or two sales of mansions or streets with very large block sizes.
“We have selected streets with a significant number of houses with the highest overall median prices, rather than selecting a street based on the sale of one mansion,” he said.
“Our methodology has created a very different 'top streets' list representing streets with a significant number of high-priced properties and surrounded by the highest priced homes in the country. Home buyers, sellers and agents should know how a street ranks within a suburb, especially in today’s market.”

Meantime, online lender Well Money last month released the top 20 suburbs for future property price rises. Well Money CEO Scott Spencer said for the October quarter, the report included 12 metro and eight regional locations, as well as 14 house and six-unit markets.
“We found inventory levels have fallen in every one of these 20 markets over the October quarter,” Spencer said. “When inventory levels are falling, it means buying conditions are becoming harder, which forces buyers to compete harder and puts upward pressure on prices.”
Well Money has also identified the top 20 affordable suburbs to buy apartments, with the areas making the list including Queensland (9), South Australia (6), Western Australia (3), ACT (1) and the Northern Territory (1).
