Auction activity experienced a slight dip over the weekend following a surge in listings during the preceding weekend, according to CoreLogic.

Capital cities hosted 2,892 auctions over the weekend, slightly lower than the 3,033 during the previous weekend, which was the second busiest so far in the year.

Of the total auction listings, 79.0% turned into a sale. This will likely go lower as the remaining results are collected. Still, the preliminary auction clearance rate for the weekend was slightly higher than the previously-recorded 78.6%.

Among the biggest markets, Melbourne recorded the highest activity, with 1,330 auctions. This, however, was lower than last week's 1,411 auction volume.

Sydney still registered the highest proportion of successful sales among the biggest markets, with its clearance rate hitting 81.6% for 1,157 auctions.

Across smaller capital cities, Brisbane recorded the busiest weekend with 196 auctions, followed by Adelaide with 137.

Over the weekend, 2,204 houses went into auction, of which 81.4% went into sale. The unit segment, on the other hand, reported 688 auction listings and a clearance rate of 71.5%
