Recently resigned GrainCorp chief executive Alison Watkins has announced she will also be stepping down from the
ANZ board.
Watkins resigned from her position as chief executive of GrainCorp over the weekend, and yesterday it was revealed she would be taking up a position as group managing director of Coca-Cola Amatil Limited.
ANZ chairman John Morschel said the decision reflects Watkins’ workload commitments in her new role.
“Alison has made a wonderful contribution to the ANZ board since joining in November 2008,” said Morschel. “This includes her role as chair of the human resources committee, where she has successfully overseen a period of very significant change in remuneration reporting and practices.
“It is with considerable regret that we see her leave the board but we understand the demands of her new role as group managing director of Coca-Cola Amatil. We wish her every success in the future.”
Watkins’ resignation from GrainCorp came after the Treasury rejected a takeover bid from US grains group Archer Midlands.
Watkins will officially step down from the ANZ board in April 2014.
