Resolve Finance is making strides to create an inclusive environment that supports female brokers’ success, underpinned by a pathway from employed broker to franchisee.
Hugh Miller (pictured above right), sales and partnership manager, draws inspiration from the sports inequities faced by his daughters and the workplace challenges seen in banking to advocate for gender equality.
Miller was speakinig to the MFAA for an article in its Champions of Diversity series, which is supported by CommBank.
“I found with cricket in particular, that the girls aren’t treated the same, or given the importance that boys’ teams get,” Miller said.
His experiences in a bank that aimed to elevate women into leadership roles yet faced scepticism, drove him to strive for balance in recruiting brokers at Resolve Finance.
“Currently less than 25% of mortgage brokers are female. We need diversity to reflect our customers’ needs,” Miller said. He said he aimed to interview as many females as males for broker roles.
Sophie McCluskey’s (pictured above left) journey from a broker support role to becoming a broker with Resolve Finance exemplifies the company’s supportive approach.
Highlighting the challenges women face in taking risks, McCluskey said she appreciated the security offered by Resolve’s employed-to-franchisee pathway.
“Having a base salary when you first start out, for a lot of women, they would like that security,” she said.
Beyond supporting female professionals, Resolve Finance, part of the family-oriented ABN Group, promotes family inclusion in the workplace.
From allowing employees to bring their families to conferences to providing paid parental leave, Resolve demonstrates its commitment to supporting brokers through all life stages.
“We have to support them through that,” Miller said, ensuring brokers returning from maternity leave are accommodated without undue pressure.
Resolve Finance is not just about empowering women; it’s about fostering a diverse and supportive workplace that benefits everyone.
“Don’t underestimate the value you can add to the industry,” McCluskey said to aspiring female brokers. Through initiatives that encourage gender diversity and family inclusion, Resolve Finance is paving the way for a more equitable industry.
