REA Group has raised $400,000 for community organisations dedicated to combating homelessness through its large-scale customer event, Ready24.
The event, held on Tuesday at Royal Randwick, attracted 1,200 real estate professionals. It was established as an avenue for community contribution, as well as professional and personal development.
Chief customer officer Kul Singh (pictured below) said the event showcases REA Group’s commitment to changing “the way the world experiences property.”
The company has announced that it will donate 100% of ticket proceeds to various organisations working on homelessness solutions.
“Our approach with Ready24 considers everyone, including those experiencing homelessness,” said Singh.
The beneficiaries of the Ready24 event are some of REA Group’s longstanding community partners. Orange Sky, The Big Issue, and Launch Housing all provide support and services to homeless populations.
Orange Sky, which provides free mobile laundry and shower services, will use REA Group’s donation to operate a laundry van for an entire year.
“This will enable us to provide over 6,200 loads of free laundry in the coming year and will bring us closer to achieving our goal of supporting 40,000 people doing it tough by 2025,” said Lucas Patchett, the organisation’s co-founder and CEO.
Similarly, The Big Issue will use the funds from REA Group to bolster its Homes for Homes initiative, which focuses on increasing the availability of social and affordable housing.
“This donation will directly help the creation of affordable dwellings for our most vulnerable in the community,” said CEO Stephen Persson. “It will build upon the $1.8m+ Homes for Homes has already granted in funding to 21 projects across VIC, NT, QLD, NSW, WA, and the ACT that provide housing for over 350 people.”
In other REA Group news, the company reported that its revenue increased 18% to $726 million in its half-year results.
