In a move to enhance accessibility and cater to customer needs, NAB began opening 12 branches across Australia on Saturdays as of November 30.
The decision is part of the bank’s broader effort to provide more flexibility for customers seeking in-person banking services.
As digital banking dominates with over 93% of transactions now occurring online, NAB recognises the continued importance of face-to-face advice for more complex banking needs.
Paul Carter (pictured above), NAB executive, highlighted the challenges customers face managing their busy workweeks.
“It can be hard to fit everything in the working week; from last-minute dentist appointments to scheduling a car service, it often feels like there aren’t enough hours in the day,” Carter said.
“We’re extending the opening hours of select branches based on where the demand is – to give our customers the flexibility they need to get expert advice when it suits them best.”
The 12 NAB branches selected for Saturday openings are located in areas of high customer activity, primarily within shopping centres. The locations include:
The initiative reflects NAB’s focus on building strong customer relationships through personalised services.
“We believe that personalised banking and real relationships with our customers are key, so we’re reviewing our opening hours to be where our customers need us,” Carter said.
This Saturday rollout aligns with NAB’s $41 million investment over the past year in 28 branches, including 11 regional locations. NAB, which recently suggested that Australians may be scaling back spending amid ongoing cost-of-living pressures, is also increasing its support for home buyers by expanding its team of local lenders.
For customers outside these 12 locations, NAB offers additional options, including access to Bank@Post services on Saturdays at many Australia Post outlets, and 24/7 support via the NAB app and digital banking services.
