National Australia Bank (NAB) will be providing $1,000 grants to customers and colleagues affected by the Queensland floods, on top of its disaster-relief packages announced last Friday.

Eligible customers can use the $1,000 grant for personal necessities such as temporary accommodation, food and clothing. They can also opt for the $1,000 business grant to cover the cost of damaged property, equipment and fencing, as well as for the loss of stock.

NAB is also offering emotional support and counselling through its Employee Assistance Program.

Meanwhile, the disaster-relief package includes credit card and personal loan relief, waiving the establishment fee for restructuring business facilities, concessional loans to customers seeking support to restructure existing facilities to assist in repairs, and a moratorium on home and personal loan repayments, among others.

Rachel Slade, group executive for personal banking at NAB, said numerous forms of support were available for those who require immediate assistance from the aftermath of the flooding.

“To all the families, communities and businesses who have suffered damage to their homes, businesses and farms, we are here to help you through this,” Slade said. “We know that being there for our impacted customers right now is important, but we also know we have a role to play in the long-term recovery. We are also providing NAB colleagues with emergency grants who have experienced damage to their homes, while they continue to support their local customers during these floods.”

Customers are encouraged to call NAB Assist on 1300 308 132 or visit nab.com.au/disaster, while business and agribusiness customers who wish to access the grants can contact NAB on 1300 769 650.
