A mutual bank has announced it has migrated customers from its building society brand, in a relaunch that will see the groups under the one name.
Australian Unity has owned Big Sky Building Society since 2012. As of this week, its product offering and 25,000 customers are now fully integrated under the Australian Unity brand.
While Big Sky accounts continue to be valid and existing customers should only be affected in so much as the access to the website, internet banking or the app, its products will longer be available to new customers.
The 178-year old health, wealth and lifestyle institution offered products and services across healthcare, health insurance, general insurance, financing solutions, investments, retirement and ageing.
Timothy Barber, CEO, Australian Unity Bank Limited, said the move builds on its customer-focused banking business.
He said, “The relaunch comes at a time when customers are seeking a genuine and trusted banking alternative.
“We believe we are well positioned to deliver on our sole purpose at Australian Unity, putting the customer front and centre while delivering great value products and services.”
Over the past 12 months, Australian Unity said it has invested heavily in people, processes and technology to deliver compelling banking products and services offering.
Barber said, “We have established a dedicated national third-party sales team and enhanced our digital capability to service the broker market via the implementation of technology platform NextGen.Net ApplyOnline.
“Coupled with our focus on traditional relationship banking, which includes bringing banking products to customers of the entire Australian Unity group, means we come to market with a compelling offering under a new brand.
“Australian Unity offers bundled solutions around mortgages, transaction banking and general insurance including discounts of up to 10 per cent for customers who bundle their home loan and private health insurance, and a general insurance multi-policy discount of 10%.”
Big Sky Building Society customers were notified of the change in September 2018 and transitioned to Australian Unity Bank Limited on 24 October 2018.
