A former BDM at Pepper Money ANZ has taken on a new role at tech-driven non-bank lender, Bridgit.
Michael Balshaw (pictured above) has joined Bridgit as regional sales director, to oversee the continued growth of Bridgit in Victoria, South Australia, Tasmania, and Western Australia, specifically expanding the non-bank’s accredited broker network, which currently exceeds 3,000 in these states.
Prior to Bridgit, the Melbourne-based Balshaw was a top-performing commercial manager at Pepper Money ANZ, having settled the largest commercial transaction within a national team. He was also the fastest BDM to reach 100 settled deals.
Balshaw is also an expert in alternative funding options who has supported and educated more than a thousand commercial brokers. He also held senior roles at ALI Group (Australia) and big bank NAB.
Stephen Doyle, head of distribution at Bridgit, said Balshaw was the perfect person to spearhead the non-bank’s efforts in Victoria, SA, Tasmania, and WA. Since the business was founded in 2021, Bridgit has experienced continuous and rapid growth, processing over $2 billion in bridging loan applications.
Balshaw’s “unrivalled expertise and knowledge of non-bank lending along with strong broker relationship skills will no doubt help cement Bridgit as the go-to-solution all brokers can trust,” Doyle said.
Balshaw said he was thrilled to be joining the company.
“With housing in demand, an increasing number of homeowners are struggling to find and secure their dream home,” he said. “For those lucky enough to find their ideal property, many of those people lose out on the opportunity due to not having enough time to sell their existing home or being unable to access enough liquidity to complete the purchase.
