Brokers are being urged to join this year’s Young Gun excellence awardees at the 2023 Australian Mortgage Awards (AMAs) on Friday, October 13.
Hosted by comedian Merrick Watts (pictured above centre), the AMAs promises to be a night to remember as the industry’s crème de la crème pack into the Star Event Centre in Sydney to celebrate excellence.
With over 600 tickets sold already, only a limited supply are left for the black-tie gala dinner. However, bookings for seats and tables of up to 10 people can still be made through the Australian Mortgage Awards website.
This year's event features a lineup of impressive finalists, including some rising stars known as the Young Guns in the industry.
Bradley Donnelly, David Lucas (pictured above left), and Jyh Kao (pictured above right) are among the talented individuals who have been nominated for the coveted Adelaide Bank Young Gun of the Year award.
All three will be attending this year’s Australian Mortgage Awards and encourage future Young Guns to have a chat with them on the night.
Donnelly (pictured below), senior finance broker at Green Finance Group, said he was “stoked” to be recognised among people that are the more than likely the future leaders of the broking industry.
“It means the world and shows the hard work we’ve put in over the past 12 months doesn’t go unnoticed,” said Donnelly, who recently shared his insights about the RBA’s cash rate announcement.
“I think industry recognition goes along way when it comes to building out a larger network whether that is a network of customers or a network of business partners having these accolades just help cement your position in the industry.”
Lucas, a senior credit adviser at Indigo Finance, said the announcement that he was an excellence awardee was “completely unexpected”.
"It has shown me that all the late nights, weekends, and especially the sacrifices from my family have been valued, and I'm super grateful to so many who have honoured me with this recognition,” Lucas said.
“Being a broker can be a pretty full on, while juggling life as a new dad with two young kids. I don’t do what I do for the recognition entirely, but I certainly appreciate it – it cements there is more to strive for and achieve in the future.”
Kao, director and mortgage broker at JD Capital, said he “strongly believes’ that industry recognition is important early in your career to help “establish trust, recognition and credibility with partners, clients, lenders”.
“It’s great to know what I am doing is making an impact in the industry especially as a new to industry broker and I can’t wait to attend the AMA awards and meet the other finalists,” Kao said.
