The head of a franchise brokerage has departed, saying he's ready for the next challenge.
Peter Bromley, head of LJ Hooker Home Loans, has told Australian Broker he is leaving to pursue other opportunities. The move, Bromley said, was spurred by the desire to try his hand at building something new.
"I've been here for eight years and I've built it from the ground up. I've taken it from nine franchises to 55 across Australia and New Zealand. I've got our white label program to at least twice the industry average. It's time to take on a new opportunity," Bromley said.
Bromley said he intended to "take what I've learned and apply it again" in a new role, but didn't elaborate on what role he was seeking. He did, however, say the move was also "a good opportunity to take a break".

"I walk away from LJ with their full support, and my full support of them," he said.
Bromley said he hoped to use the skills he had developed in building a broker distribution channel, and in developing white label products. He argued that these skills were vital to success in the current market.
"You've got to own your distribution, but you also have to look at product manufacturing and product dynamics," he said.
While Bromley isn't stepping out of the broker market permanently, he did offer some words of advice for mortgage brokers.
"There's still so much opportunity out there for those people who want to take the next step. If the phone doesn't ring, pick it up. If no one walks in your office, you've got to walk out. Prospecting for new business is the number one thing."
