Bendigo and Adelaide Bank has announced the appointment of Daryl Johnson as a non-executive director, effective from Sept. 30.

Johnson brings with him over four decades of experience in banking and finance, having worked extensively in Australia, Asia, and New Zealand. His appointment will add strategic depth to the bank’s leadership team.

Former CEO of Rabobank and NAB executive

Johnson’s most recent role was CEO of Rabobank New Zealand.

His earlier career includes executive positions at NAB, where he was CEO of Asia and executive general manager of NAB Business, as well as leading corporate banking.

Johnson’s strong leadership background is complemented by his previous roles as a non-executive director for Beyond Bank Australia and Cuscal.

Johnson’s educational background and advisory roles

Johnson holds an MBA from Murdoch University and a Bachelor of Business in Finance and Economics from Curtin University.

Based in Melbourne, he has also served on the advisory committee for Agrifunder, a company that provides specialized working capital funding for the agricultural sector.

Johnson’s expertise to support Bendigo’s growth plans

Vicki Carter, Bendigo and Adelaide Bank’s chair, praised Johnson’s deep expertise.

Johnson’s “extensive banking and finance experience in Australasia and deep understanding of business and agribusiness makes him a valuable addition to the board,” Carter said.

His proven track record in driving growth and enhancing customer experience is expected to align with the bank’s strategic goals.

Expressing his enthusiasm about the new role, Johnson said, “I’m proud to join Australia’s most trusted bank and contribute to the next phase of its development.”
