Mortgage broker Aussie has announced a new national campaign offering Australians a share in a $320,000 prize pool, as the challenge of breaking into the housing market continues to dominate national conversations.

The “Door to More” campaign, which runs from April 7 to June 29, includes a $200,000 grand prize and 12 weekly draws of $10,000. It is the company’s largest consumer competition to date and comes at a time when housing affordability is increasingly out of reach for many, a news release said.

According to the latest figures from the Australian Bureau of Statistics (December 2024), the national average dwelling price is $976,800. A standard 20% deposit, just under $200,000, remains a steep hurdle for first home buyers. In some regions, the top prize would exceed the amount required for a full deposit.

“We wanted to offer something genuinely meaningful — not just a giveaway, but something that could help someone take a real step forward,” said Emily Lonsdale, general manager of growth at Lendi Group, the parent company of Aussie.

“Whether it helps fund a deposit, pay down a mortgage, or finish that long-delayed renovation, the opportunity to win $200,000 or $10,000 could make a real difference.”

Siobhan Bryson, a senior mobile broker based in South Australia, said rising house prices had left many would-be buyers struggling to keep up despite making sacrifices.

“I see so many first home buyers putting in the hard yards — cutting back on takeaways, skipping holidays, even moving back in with parents — just to save a deposit,” she said. “But with prices climbing, it’s a never-ending battle. A prize like this? It’s not just a boost; it’s a golden ticket to homeownership.”

The campaign is being promoted through out-of-home advertising, digital platforms, retail spaces and a radio integration with NOVA’s drive-time program hosted by Ricki-Lee, Tim and Joel.

To enter the competition, eligible Australians aged 18 and over must complete one or more qualifying actions. These include creating an account in the Aussie app, booking and attending a home loan appointment with an Aussie broker, booking a consultation with a buyer’s agent, or submitting a loan application.

Entries are cumulative, meaning multiple actions increase the chances of winning. Winners will be contacted directly and announced weekly on the Aussie website.
