Bankwest has announced a new broker head, appointing industry veteran Ian Rakhit to the role of general manager, third party.
Rakhit has been the NSW state manager of stores and lending for the past two years and will lead both the retail and business broker teams. He expressed his excitement at returning to the third party channel and exploring how the bank could better meet the needs of its brokers in the future.
Outgoing broker head Stewart Saunders, who led the broker team for the past two and a half years, will now step into the role of general manager of strategy, risk and governance. He will be focusing on growing the business in a risk aware manner while aligning the bank to regulatory and compliance requirements.
“Under the guidance of Stewart Saunders, Bankwest has introduced some important improvements aimed at supporting its highly valued broker network including the Home Loan Application Tracker, the Broker Portal and the Broker Pricing Tool,” Rakhit said.
“We’re continually evolving and improving our digital offering to our brokers by embracing emerging technologies that brokers are telling us they value.”
Rakhit has worked with Bankwest for more than a decade, half of which was spent as general manager of broker and specialist sales.
Commenting on the change in roles, Saunders said it was a privilege to lead Bankwest’s broker team.
“I’m so proud of everything we have achieved together and the significant steps we’ve taken to support our broker network.”
